If so, Hello!!! And welcome!! And if not, then Hello!!! And welcome!!
I've learned many a thing about releasing the inner awesome that is inside of all of us over these past couple of years of self discovery and no-longer-dimming-myself, and my purpose for putting this little 'zine together was simply to share what I've learned, in the hopes that my journey could help you, or, at the very least, put a smile on your face.
I hope it did!
And now (as promised in the 'zine!), some linky fun:
The Word of the Year. I originally found out about this from the lovely Susannah Conway, who has created a truly wonderful worksheet entitled Unravelling the Year Ahead, wherein you use your Word to envision your year ahead.
If you'd like more info on just what exactly is the Word of the Year, the incandescently lovely Christine Kane has it all covered here, along with a magnificent worksheet: The Word of the Year Discovery Tool.
In case you're curious, here's my take on it...
Artist's Dates:
In the Challenge Yourself game, the afternoon at an art/home improvement/thrift store, followed by creating something from whatever goodies you've gotten, is a kind of Artist's Date.
The Artist's Date is an idea from the book The Artist's Way -- an amazing, and most likely life-changing book. Tall order, I know, but it will live up! The idea behind the Artist's Date is "a once-weekly, festive, solo expedition to explore something that interests you," and, in the process, get in touch with your inner artist, creativity and imagination.
Here's the site/book from whence it originates, along with a pdf download of the pages from said book with a much more detailed explanation. This is a good teaser of the book, The Artist's Way, just, y'know, in case... :)

Caviar dreams and New Year Wishes:
As seen in Shine, and courtesy of Neil Gaiman:
"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.":)
